Situated at the top of "butte de Montmatre - a cult place since forever - the Basilica Sacré Coeur is the second most visited monument of France, with more than ten million visitors and pilgrims a year. built in 1875 thanks to donations from faithful ones, the Basilica's architecture is inspired from roman and byzantine style making it very eclectic. To get to it, you will have to take the funicular or climb the 222 steps: an effort well worth it once you've taken a look at the view.

Situated between place de la Concorde, rue de rivoli, the Palais du Louvre and the river Seine, the Jardin des tuileries is the oldest and most important French style garden of Paris. In the late eighteenth century, faced with the saturation of Paris cemeteries, the government voted the evacuation of most of pauper's graves and of cemetery of the Innocents, one of the biggest in Paris. To collect all the bones - it is estimated that 6 millions remains have been gathered - the Catacombs of Paris have been arranged in underground quarries that you can visit from Place Denfert-Rochereau. Do not miss visiting the largest necropolis of the world !
Practical informations
From 1785 to 1814, always at the dusk, convoys of trucks draped in black will be routed from the remains of Parisian cemeteries. Classified according to their original cemetery, the bones are carefully arranged along the walls of nearly 2km of underground galleries. To ensure a rest (final) well deserved for millions of Parisians, among whom are the biggest names in the French Revolution, but also Rabelais, Lully, Perrault, quarries are fitted out and plaques are installed indicating their origin. Completely renovated in 2005, the catacombs attract annually nearly 250,000 visitors for what we believe is far from being a dismal tour.
